Network models

I spent the past day or so looking over the different network models listed in the Cisco Press BSCI book. Seems like it’s a lot of marketing fluff, but after reading it I can see how it relates to the type of networks being built in different industries. I’ve been taking it slow on the studying mostly due to the fact that I’m getting married in two weeks. I’ll have about 10 days where I won’t be near a computer or have time to myself to study so I figure what’s the point in getting all into it hot and heavy right now. I’ll just skim over the first few chapters in this book (ISBN 1-58705-223-7) and then get my lab setup when I come home from my honeymoon.

I’ll leave you with some good links for the day. Someone has come up with a pix/ASA emulator for linux. Also, there’s a virtual switch software being sold by vmware. Like the post says, the price point is probably out of the realm for the average joe, but hopefully it won’t be long before the people at dynamips or someplace else create their own emulator based on it.
